Need tips on recruiting guild members...
Anyone know the best way to recruit guild members? The sort of guild members I'd like in a guild are ones who prefer role-playing or PvE to PvP (although PvP is encouraged and will possibly be a bigger focus once there are more members). How would you go about finding people like this? I've quested with some people who are heaps of fun to play with but unfortunately, all of them seemed to be already in guilds :/. Do people just advertise to the public and use a screening process to get their new members, or are they more successful by just browsing the threads in this forum for example. Or perhaps as mentioned earlier, you just play with people and if you like them, ask them? Getting some of my friends to play is not an option since they all don't like online RPGs . Just wanting to hear guild leader/officer experiences with recruitment .

It's a little bit more difficult to recruit now, the best way is to party with people, have fun, chat with them, you may find you have the same likes/dislikes etc, then tell them about your guild, what your plans are for the guild. All in all you need to make it attractive afterall they my consider leaving the guild their in for yours....

I find the best way the recuit people is to keep a character in pre-seering and recruit new players. by the time you get to yaks bend, it seems everyone is running around with capes already. the downfall is that if you want to recuit for pvp , you are going to have to wait for your members to level and become experienced. My guild " The Chosen Champions. origanilly started of w/ 3 members ( myself and 2 officers). we didnt start recruiting until we were lvl 20 and asended. its fun helping out new members and watching there reaction as you slatter paths for them like a walk in the park.

Here's something to keep in mind...
I dislike, to a great degree, people who advertise in game and try to recruit through spamming the channels. It tells me that their guild isn't very active right now. It tells me that the officers and guild leaders have NO idea of the caliber of people they have in their guild. Etc. I look down on those people. I also dislike the spamming itself. I just joined a guild after playing for so long. How did this happen? I was in the crystal desert and myself and 3 of the guild members did 2 missions together. After doing the missions and seeing that the players were competent, I asked if they were recruiting. And after filling out an application on their site, I'm a member. |

If you prefer role-playing, then do that. We haven't had a chance in this game yet, but in a previous game, everytime we held a 'guild event'/role-played (you can PM for the details ), we had people asking to join our guild.
Now that ale is ingame, I'm going to talk to my guild leaders to set up a HOBO event in GW. Last edited by Swampgirl Inez; Jun 13, 2005 at 05:21 PM // 17:21.. |

Thanks to everyone for the input so far. I think I'm going to take a bit of advice from the major two suggestions here: 1) (which I've already been doing) look out for people to join my guild with the level 20 character I'm currently finishing off (have just finished the main storyline yay) and 2) Once I start my new character, I'll aslo be looking for new members in the Pre-Searing stage. (Once I've joined up with some of them in a party and have seen what they are like of course ). I've got a guild cape, all I need now is to save up some cash for a guild hall (only 50k to go! *whimpers*) |

Yes, I definitely recommend getting to know the person a bit first. Even with our events, we had our fair share of jerks. We learned that lesson pretty quick. However, we also made some new friends and had a lot to talk about in the forums the next day.
Good luck! |
